It feels like time has flown by in the blink of an eye. It’s been a year since we last headed to Anime Revolution, where last year was the first one after the COVID-19 pandemic. Let’s head down to Downtown Vancouver by Waterfront Station to see what’s going on this year!
Can you believe it has already been 3 years since I’ve last been to my local convention? Anime Revolution last ran back in 2019 due to the outbreak of Covid-19. Well, Anime Revolution was finally back in 2022 and people were excited, to say the least. So how does the con hold up in 2022? What has changed? Read on to find out!
We’re back for another year of our local convention. It’s always surprising and cool to see the growth or changes from one year to another. As with previous years, the convention takes place in the Convention Center in Downtown Vancouver just a few steps from the Waterfront Station.
A belated Happy New Year and Happy Lunar New Year! Last year was an exciting event filled year with travels across Canada, the US, Japan, and Hong Kong. We met new friends, went to new places, and even experienced Comiket for the first time.
It is hard to believe it is already a month into 2019. We’ll try to keep the blog more updated this year between events and go back to more regular posts. As usual, we will also list out the events we plan to attend this year and reflect on the previous year.
My second day at AniRevo began with a press interview with Marina Inoue. You can read that press interview here.
After the interview, [M], [A], and I went to check out the AniRevo Idol Festival. Because we were late in getting to the festival the only seats we could find were near the back. Still, between the great dancing of the idols on stage and energy of the wota cheering them on, it was hard not to be excited about each performance. Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay long because [A] needed to sign up for both of the Smash Bros. tournaments in the vendor hall.
Hello! I’m EnzoEspada and since the blog owner was away at another anime con at the time, I was asked by him to cover Anime Revolution (AniRevo) this year. To introduce myself real quick I like mecha, model kit’s, and tokusatsu. This isn’t the first time I’ve been at AniRevo, and it certainly won’t be the last time either. The con itself, I found is in a very accessible area, with several forms of transit that can bring you there quickly and easily. Most popular among the options being the two SkyTrain lines that go to and from Waterfront station, a few blocks away from the convention centre. In terms of food, there is a food court across the street from the convention centre, and many delicious downtown Vancouver restaurants within walking distance. Lastly, the AniRevo staff does listen to feedback, and I find the con improves every year and is always a blast to go to. Right then with that out of the way lets start off with Friday, August 3rd, the first day of the con.
As 2017 has now come and gone, there has been a lot going on in the previous year. This year, I’m sure will also be filled with different experiences as well. Wishing everyone a happy new year and may 2018 be filled with many adventures.
Last year was one filled with tons of events and even trips to Japan and Hong Kong. I wonder what the next year will bring. This might be a good time to start planning. Let’s take a look at where this year will lead us.
Saturday is usually the best day of any three-day convention. First, you actually get to sleep in a bit and not have other responsibilities. Not to mention, this is the day that is actually chalked full of content. This Day 2 was no different and led to many laughs.
Day 1’s of conventions usually means preparation and heading out early to make sure you don’t miss any of the action. Unfortunately, this year, I was stuck with work in the morning and could not make it until later in the evening. On the bright side, I managed to get my photographer to head in earlier in the day to cover the first part of the day.
There is always something about post-con days. Not only are you usually mentally and physically drained, a part of you also feels absent. There’s no better way to describe it other than “Post-con depression.” It can happen to anybody and the quality or even length of the convention is irrelevant. After spending BC Day off to recover, it is time to post some updates.
