Happy Lunar New Year 2017 + Upcoming Plans

With February quickly approaching, it is time to lay out some plans for 2017. It has been pretty busy for me lately with juggling a new job with school.

Sakura-con 2016 Day 1

Sakura-con 2016 Day 1

Friday or Day 1 of a convention is fairly quiet since most of the attendees still have either school or work to contend with. Luckily, I had the weekend off to take a breather away from work. Starting the weekend off right is essential for most con experiences. It really does set the tone for the weekend and you have to be sure you’re prepared for just about anything. Breakfast is always a good plan since you’ll likely be having meals at odd times.

Sakura-con 2016 Day 0

Sakura-con 2016 Day 0

There is just something special about Sakura-con for me. It might just be my positive experiences in the past with the con or maybe it is the friends I get to hang out with. Regardless, there is just something worth looking forward to at Sakura-con as with all conventions.

Lunar New Year 2016 & New PC

Lunar New Year 2016 & New PC

After another long weekend of excitement and Chinese festivities, things are back to normal for me. However, my PC recently decided to finally give out on me. On the bright side, I had already ordered parts for a new PC. Overall, it has been a fairly good start to the year already. I’ve already attended GP Vancouver with puddi & D_S, and Sakura-con 2016 is just around the corner. Looks like the first half of 2016 will be a blast!

Happy New Year 2016!

Happy New Year 2016!

A bit belated, but Happy New Year! With 2015 behind us, it’s time to look forward to 2016 and all the great things to come. In terms of what will be cooking in 2016, here are a few concrete plans.

First up, I’ll be writing for Grind’Em Games at a more regular pace now. We’re looking to rejuvenate the site and to diversify the content on our blog about TCGs. Weiss will still be the primary focus, but with a few Magic: The Gathering events happening, that might be added as content as well.

Secondly, I’ll also continue to be on the 1k1soul podcast hosted by puddi and I. It’s been a fun adventure and I can only see it getting more interesting with new sets coming out this year.

Anime Revolution 2015 Day 2

Anime Revolution 2015 Day 2

Normally, Saturday would be the day I’m most excited for at a convention, since most of the good content occurs on Saturday. Sadly, that was the last thing on my mind when I got up at around 6AM in the morning. First things first, I had to head out to SFU Surrey to write my final exam. It started at 8:30AM, and I was done by around 10:45AM. With the exam out of the way, I took the Skytrain all the way down to Waterfront for the biggest day of the convention.

Anime Revolution 2015 Day 1

Anime Revolution 2015 Day 1

Day 1 or Friday for most conventions is usually the quietest of the three days. Some people still have work and/or school on the Friday and it seems to get busier as the day goes by. To make the most out of the convention, I got up at around 8AM in the morning to get some work done. At about 9AM, I went down to Burrard Station to pick up our final member Puddi, and brought him back to our hotel room. He was a bit tired and really hungry, so the next thing we did was go out and get some breakfast. If there’s one thing you have to do going out to a convention, it’s to make sure you’re well hydrated and well fed. It’s going to be a long week and you want to be able to enjoy it without feeling sick or hungry throughout.
