Back from Anime Revolution 2017 & Updates

There is always something about post-con days. Not only are you usually mentally and physically drained, a part of you also feels absent. There’s no better way to describe it other than “Post-con depression.” It can happen to anybody and the quality or even length of the convention is irrelevant. After spending BC Day off to recover, it is time to post some updates.

Anime Revolution 2016 Day 2

Anime Revolution 2016 Day 2

The second day of most conventions are usually the most jam-packed with activity. As with most Day 2’s, it was a Saturday and had the largest amount of people attending the convention. Let’s just say the hallways were packed more than usual and even moving from one room to another was difficult. After grabbing a quick breakfast, I headed down to see what the second day of AniRevo 2016 would have in store.

Anime Revolution 2016 Day 1

As with all convention weekends, being prepared is one of the most important things. Having a good breakfast and staying hydrated throughout the day is integral since you may find yourself not having time to do so while there. Friday of Anime Revolution 2016 was no different in that regard. After grabbing breakfast, I headed down to the Vancouver Convention Center to pick up my pass. It was pretty empty at the time as people were still on the way there to pick up there passes. It took me no time to grab my press badge as there was a separate line and it was still early in the day.

Lunar New Year 2016 & New PC

Lunar New Year 2016 & New PC

After another long weekend of excitement and Chinese festivities, things are back to normal for me. However, my PC recently decided to finally give out on me. On the bright side, I had already ordered parts for a new PC. Overall, it has been a fairly good start to the year already. I’ve already attended GP Vancouver with puddi & D_S, and Sakura-con 2016 is just around the corner. Looks like the first half of 2016 will be a blast!

Happy New Year 2016!

Happy New Year 2016!

A bit belated, but Happy New Year! With 2015 behind us, it’s time to look forward to 2016 and all the great things to come. In terms of what will be cooking in 2016, here are a few concrete plans.

First up, I’ll be writing for Grind’Em Games at a more regular pace now. We’re looking to rejuvenate the site and to diversify the content on our blog about TCGs. Weiss will still be the primary focus, but with a few Magic: The Gathering events happening, that might be added as content as well.

Secondly, I’ll also continue to be on the 1k1soul podcast hosted by puddi and I. It’s been a fun adventure and I can only see it getting more interesting with new sets coming out this year.

Anime Revolution 2015 Day 2

Anime Revolution 2015 Day 2

Normally, Saturday would be the day I’m most excited for at a convention, since most of the good content occurs on Saturday. Sadly, that was the last thing on my mind when I got up at around 6AM in the morning. First things first, I had to head out to SFU Surrey to write my final exam. It started at 8:30AM, and I was done by around 10:45AM. With the exam out of the way, I took the Skytrain all the way down to Waterfront for the biggest day of the convention.

Anime Revolution 2015 Day 1

Anime Revolution 2015 Day 1

Day 1 or Friday for most conventions is usually the quietest of the three days. Some people still have work and/or school on the Friday and it seems to get busier as the day goes by. To make the most out of the convention, I got up at around 8AM in the morning to get some work done. At about 9AM, I went down to Burrard Station to pick up our final member Puddi, and brought him back to our hotel room. He was a bit tired and really hungry, so the next thing we did was go out and get some breakfast. If there’s one thing you have to do going out to a convention, it’s to make sure you’re well hydrated and well fed. It’s going to be a long week and you want to be able to enjoy it without feeling sick or hungry throughout.
