Comiket 101: A Guide to Surviving Comiket

Comiket 101: A Guide to Surviving Comiket

A few days ago, one of my online friends brought up the fact that I had gone to Comiket 95 back in December. They were wondering if I may have some tips to Comiket as they will be going for the first time in a few weeks to Comiket 96. I gave some general pointers and reflected a bit on the experience and he told me I should probably write an article about it as it could help his other friends he is traveling with as well. I will also likely write a reflection article regarding the entire trip. Having been a bit busy lately and recently coming back from another trip, I’ve had less time than I would like to write on here.

Sakura-con 2019

Sakura-con 2019

Ah, Sakura-con. It almost feels like a home con to me at this point. I’ve attended this convention since 2014, it’s hard to believe it has been so long already. There’s just something to be said about the conventions you visit almost annually. Sakura-con 2019 was certainly filled with great memories and good convention experience. This article was a bit delayed due to my recent trip to Japan for the Love Live Sunshine! 5th Live. There should be an article posted about it soon.

Happy Lunar New Year 2019!

Happy Lunar New Year 2019!

A belated Happy New Year and Happy Lunar New Year! Last year was an exciting event filled year with travels across Canada, the US, Japan, and Hong Kong. We met new friends, went to new places, and even experienced Comiket for the first time.

It is hard to believe it is already a month into 2019. We’ll try to keep the blog more updated this year between events and go back to more regular posts. As usual, we will also list out the events we plan to attend this year and reflect on the previous year.

Anime Revolution 2018 Day 2

Anime Revolution 2018 Day 2

My second day at AniRevo began with a press interview with Marina Inoue. You can read that press interview here.

After the interview, [M], [A], and I went to check out the AniRevo Idol Festival. Because we were late in getting to the festival the only seats we could find were near the back. Still, between the great dancing of the idols on stage and energy of the wota cheering them on, it was hard not to be excited about each performance. Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay long because [A] needed to sign up for both of the Smash Bros. tournaments in the vendor hall.

Anime Revolution 2018 Day 1

Anime Revolution 2018 Day 1

Hello! I’m EnzoEspada and since the blog owner was away at another anime con at the time, I was asked by him to cover Anime Revolution (AniRevo) this year. To introduce myself real quick I like mecha, model kit’s, and tokusatsu. This isn’t the first time I’ve been at AniRevo, and it certainly won’t be the last time either. The con itself, I found is in a very accessible area, with several forms of transit that can bring you there quickly and easily. Most popular among the options being the two SkyTrain lines that go to and from Waterfront station, a few blocks away from the convention centre. In terms of food, there is a food court across the street from the convention centre, and many delicious downtown Vancouver restaurants within walking distance. Lastly, the AniRevo staff does listen to feedback, and I find the con improves every year and is always a blast to go to. Right then with that out of the way lets start off with Friday, August 3rd, the first day of the con.

Otakuthon 2018

Otakuthon 2018

Montreal has always been one of those places in Canada I have wanted to visit. There’s something about French Canada that is always intriguing for those of us on the West Coast. Maybe it’s the lack of French we experience here in BC or the fact that we’re pretty far from the Eastern provinces. Whatever the reason, Otakuthon was a good reason for me to travel out the Montreal.

Sakura-con 2018

Sakura-con 2018

There’s nothing quite like the con you go to with friends on a yearly basis. Sakura-con may not be my hometown con but I have been going since 2014 now. I met some good friends there and have been going ever since. Sakura-con 2018 was certainly something.

Sakura-con 2018 & More

It is hard to believe it has already been a few months since the new year started. As I stated in my earlier plans, I will be heading to Sakura-con again this year. It looks like I will be spending most of my time down there with puddi & D_S as others have not confirmed yet.

Anime Revolution 2017 Day 2

Anime Revolution 2017 Day 2

Saturday is usually the best day of any three-day convention. First, you actually get to sleep in a bit and not have other responsibilities. Not to mention, this is the day that is actually chalked full of content. This Day 2 was no different and led to many laughs.

Back from Anime Revolution 2017 & Updates

Back from Anime Revolution 2017 & Updates

There is always something about post-con days. Not only are you usually mentally and physically drained, a part of you also feels absent. There’s no better way to describe it other than “Post-con depression.” It can happen to anybody and the quality or even length of the convention is irrelevant. After spending BC Day off to recover, it is time to post some updates.
